Meet Burke Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Alex McMillan IV
Dr. McMillan has been helping people smile for over 25 years. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee, and later earned his DDS from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. After dental school, Dr. McMillan opened his first private practice and started seeing patients in his native Knoxville. While there, he served as Coordinator of Emergency Dental Services at the 1982 World's Fair and advisor to the Fair’s Knoxville Health Exhibit. Later, he served on the advisory board of the Knoxville Adult Education Center Dental Assistant School and was staff dentist at the Knoxville Job Corps Center.
In 1985, Dr. McMillan moved to Burke and began an associate dental practice. Three years later, he moved the practice to the spacious and modern office facility at Burke Town Center. Some of the faces there have changed over the years since, but one constant has always been Dr. McMillan’s passion for helping patients.
Dr. McMillan knows he can serve patients best by continually offering the best dentistry available anywhere. To do this, he is constantly learning and mastering modern techniques and advanced technologies on the cutting edge of dentistry. Instead of just meeting the requirements for continuing education, he has pursued a rigorous course of study, with literally thousands of hours of training, all designed to give his patients the latest and the best that dentistry has to offer. His continuing education training is so extensive it has made him eligible for the AGD's prestigious Fellowship Award.
He has completed the cosmetic training at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, and is now honored with the title, LVI Preferred. In addition, his intensive training in sedation dentistry has made sedation a major focus of the practice.
Recently, Dr. McMillan dedicated himself to mastering the advanced technology of Dental Implants. Implants have challenged long-held theories and principles of permanent tooth replacement and have, in many ways, revolutionized dentistry. Dr. McMillan completed an advanced implant surgical course by world-renowned implant surgeon, Carl Misch. This intensive course, at the esteemed Misch Institute, included advanced training in implant concepts, placement, management, bone grafting, and treatment planning, The International Congress of Oral Implantology has recently conferred a Fellowship on Dr. McMillan in recognition of his comprehensive study on the subject of Implants.
Dr. McMillan is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Orthodontic Society.
Meet Burke Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Murfree
Dr. Murfree was born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. While participating in mission work he realized his love for medicine and had a special interest in the dental profession.
He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He also attended the University of Tennessee Dental School.
Dr. Murfree loves spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoys traveling with his wife, Nikki, and their puppy, Susan. In his free time, you can find him enjoying various outdoor sports and activities including; biking, fishing and skiing. He and his wife currently reside in our community, here in Alexandria, Virginia.
Dr. Murfree is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Amrican Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Education Association, and the Gainesville Dental Study Club.
