On Saturday March 15th, Dr. McMillan and Dental Assistants Stephanie Wyatt and Silvia Perdomo donated their time and dental expertise to the Mission of Mercy (M.O.M.).
Mission of Mercy was created in 2000 to bring quality dental care to Virginians in underserved areas.
According to the Virginia Employment Commission, an estimated one-in-five Virginians live in an underserved area for dental care, and over 47% of Virginians have no dental insurance. These individuals are often unable to receive proper dental care and as such deal with pain, discomfort, and embarrassment. We are proud to have been able to ease their burden just a little bit during that weekend clinic. At our daily practice, we change lives, but it is always a special reward to be able to extend that opportunity where it is most needed and least available. Over 50,000 patients have received life changing care since it’s founding.
Just a few days later we received a personal note with a hand-made card from one of the patients we saw that weekend and she said:
“Because of your service at the Mission of Mercy this year four of my front teeth were saved, and I don’t have to be ashamed to smile. I am so thankful!”
This kind of response is why we are so passionate about what we do, and we will continue to strive for on a daily basis. We want our everyday patients to feel the same way about their results. We take pride in being your best option for Burke dentists. Come see us for your next checkup!
